Terms and conditions These are the terms and conditions (terms) for hiring a camper van from Ocean Mist Campers (Ocean) Bookings Bookings are either completed over the web or over the phone. The hire costs and the booking dates are determined at this point. If the is made more than 45 days from start of the hire date a none refundable deposit of £200 will reserve the camper for you. If the booking date is less than 45 days from the start date, then the full cost is required to reserve the vehicle. At the time of booking, various extras can be added to the hire details of which are on our website The remaining balance is then due 45 days before the start date The security payment see below is required to have cleared into Ocean Mists bank immediately prior to the vehicle being released for hire Cancellation If the hire is Cancelled over 45 days from the start date (start day of the hire) all monies paid excluding the none returnable deposit will be refunded Cancellation with over 20 days before the start of the hire but less than 46 days 50% of the monies will be refunded. Cancellation with less than 21 days from the start date there will be no refund. Collection and Return The camper Van can be picked up on hire day between 9:00am and 5:00pm but please leave about an hour for collection in order to complete the paperwork and allow us to show you how to operate the campervan The Campervan must be returned by 5:00 pm on the return day. Return may take up to an hour. Before the vehicle leaves and when it returns we will perform an inspection of the Camper with yourself. The Camper should be in the same condition when it returns to when it left If as an extra you hired a portable toilet, then it must be returned empty and clean. If it ius not returned in a clean state, then a charge of £100 will be made to clean it. This will be taken from the security deposit Breakdown All our Campers are covered by comprehensive breakdown cover. The vans are less than 3 years old and have the benefit of the manufacturers excellent warranty and recovery The pack in the camper provides comprehensive details on what to do in the event of a breakdown Accident Should you be unfortunate situation of having an accident in the Camper then you agree to follow the procedure for dealing with this is in the camper Pack and to assist us and our insurance company with any claim by providing us with all the relevant information and filling out all the necessary forms Driving Offences and Road Traffic Violations During the hire period you are responsible for all fines and charges that occur due to road traffic offences and violations. We also charge an administration fee of £25 to deal with the paperwork. If we are aware of the fine before we have returned the security deposit we will deduct the fine together with the admin charge from the security deposit. Otherwise we will raise an invoice for the said amount and you agree to pay it within 7 days Van Unavailability Ocean Mist will do all in their power to ensure that the vehicle is available for your holiday. However, there may be circumstances beyond our control that make the camper unavailable such as accidents or serious breakdown. If possible we will try to provide a replacement vehicle but if this is not possible our liability will be limited to refunding the hire costs for the unavailable days Fuel The camper will be provided with a full tank of diesel on the commencement of the hire. It should be returned with a full tank. If the tank is not full we will fill it and deduct the cost from the security deposit together with a £10 administration charge All of the Ocean Mist Vehicles run on Diesel. The Hirer shall be responsible for all costs associated with using the wrong fuel type. Also, great care must be taken not to put fuel in the water tank or the Ad Blue tank. The hirer will also be responsible for all cost associated with rectifying this mistake. Ad Blue: The camper will be provided with sufficient Ad blue for the trip so shouldn’t need to be topped up. If you do have to top up the Ad blue please ensure that the Ad blue is put in the Ad Blue tank not the Diesel tank. The hirer will also be responsible for all cost associated with rectifying this mistake. Use of the Vehicle The camper Van at all times remains the property of Ocean Mist Campers. It must only be driven by the drivers named in this agreement and must not under any circumstances be Sub Hired. It must only be used for Social, Domestic and Pleasure activities. The vehicle shall not be used for the carriage of goods of an explosive, dangerous or hazardous nature of the carriage of goods or passengers for hire or reward Smoking The vehicle is non smoking and you must therefore ensure that no one smokes in it. If on return there is evidence of someone smoking in the vehicle then there will be an extra cleaning charge of £120 which shall be classed as a hirer/driver liability and taken out of the security deposit Pets Dogs are allowed (maximum 2) by prior arrangement, but only in the Pet friendly campers. The Dogs must not at any time be left unattended in the camper Camping Gaz The Camper van has a Gas Bottle to power the two ring stove. Each camper Van also has a Portable Gaz BBQ for cooking outside. This also has a Gaz Bottle the same size as the one for the van. Hence the Gaz bottles are backup for each other. If you need to change a Gaz bottles, if you provide us with the receipt we will reimburse you for the first change. Please make sure you change the bottles for the same make and size as it is can be expensive to change back. Security Deposit and Hirers/ drivers Liabilities The hire is subject to a security deposit equal to the insurance excess normally £500. However, if the insurance excess has to be increased for any reason then the security deposit must be increased accordingly. This security deposit must be made such that cleared funds are in Ocean Mist’s bank account prior to the vehicle going out on hire. The payments will preferably be made by bank transfer. The security deposit is held to fund the insurance excess and any other Hirers/drivers Liabilities that occur during the hire period i.e. damage to equipment or fixtures, Extra cleaning, Fines or penalties etc. Should the Hirers/drivers liabilities together with any insurance excess exceed the Security deposit held, the Hirer/driver will immediately make payment to Ocean Mist the amount over and above the security deposit when presented with an invoice and evidence for the extra liabilities. On return of the camper with no damage we will endeavour to fully return the security deposit to you within 7 working days and in the worst case within 28 days. If however, an accident has occurred and we have to deal with the insurance company we will retain the deposit until the claim is concluded. Unfortunately, this may take considerable time, Hirer/driver All hirers and any extra drivers must accept and sign these terms and conditions in order to hire the Camper. The age Limit for all Hirers and drivers is between 25 and 75 years of age inclusive. All drivers must have held a full driving UK driving licence for no less than 24 months. Excluded Persons We cannot provide insurance for and hence cannot let the vehicle out under the following persons; Persons who have been convicted of an offence in connection with the driving of a motor vehicle or motor cycle and/or have had their driving licence endorsed or suspended or more than 6 points imposed “spent convictions, covered by the Rehabilitation of Offenders act 1974 may be disregarded Persons who have had motor insurance declined and/ or renewal refused and /or have had their insurance or cover cancelled by any Motor Insurer Persons engaged wholly or or partially in professional entertainment or professional sports person Jockeys and persons connected with racing, gaming industry or press of any sort Persons who whilst driving, have been involved in more than one accident during the last 3 years Foreign Service personal other than persons holding a full UK licence for 2 years or more Exclusions from cover Damage to windscreens tyres, aerials, glass, underside of vehicle and roof or incorrect fulling is not covered by the insurance, and are the hirers responsibility and the hirer accepts full responsibility for these which is in addition to the standard excess Identification and Verification For each driver, we will require to see a make a copy of their driving Licence and two other forms of identification utility bills which must not be more than 60 days old. Each driver must be present at the vehicle handover. For holders of UK licences we need you to get a code from the DVLC at https://www.viewdrivingrecord.service.gov.uk/driving-record/licence-number to allow us access to your driver record. We must have this prior to the commencement of the hire so that we have time to perform the checks. We suggest about 3 days If you are unable to provide us with the correct paperwork or the paperwork doesn’t agree with what you have stated, we will not be able to release the vehicle for hire. In this case, there will be no reimbursement of hire costs Towing While on Hire the Camper is not to be used to tow or push any vehicle or trailer Insurance Terms and Conditions We will provide on request the full terms and conditions of the insurance policy and you further agreed to be bound by the terms and conditions of the insurance which I have seen and read or have had the opportunity to see or read Invalid Insurance If these terms and conditions are violated, then the insurance may become invalid. In that case, you will be driving without insurance and are totally responsible for the consequences of this action. In this case you will be responsible for all damage to the Camper van and agree to reimburse us with all costs of fixing or replacing a damaged camper
