Motorhome Hire Winchester

Winchester Motorhome Hire - Winchester is a historic cathedral city and former capital of England. Situated in the South East of England, at the western edge of the South Downs and along the River Itchen, this is a perfect visitor destination for campervan hire Winchester. Winchester is one of the largest cathedrals in England, with the longest nave and overall length of any Gothic cathedral Europe. It was originally founded in 642 on an immediately adjoining site to the north and this building became known as the Old Minster, where Saint Swithun was buried nearby. With your motorhome rental Winchester it is possible to see the cathedral's association with Jane Austen who is buried in the north aisle of the nave, although the gravestone makes no mention of her as a novelist! More literary connection is via the novels of Anthony Trollope who used the cathedral as a setting, while in 2005 it was used as a set in the Da Vinci Code film. The crypt now also features a statue by Antony Gormley, called Sound II, and there is a modern shrine to Saint Swithun.
