How to hook up a motorhome

An electric hook up to the 240V supply can be used at campsites.

"Hooking Up" your camper, allows all of the 240v electric items to run, including appliances plugged into the plug sockets. This saves the charge in the Leisure Battery but there is usually an additional cost to the campsite for its use.

Leisure vehicles have a second battery, known as a Leisure battery, that charges while the engine runs. It is used to run a 12V supply in the vehicle that operates: lights, fridge (while in transit), ignitions, water pump, TV etc. It will not run any appliances plugged into the familiar 240V plug sockets. It allows the vehicle to be self sufficient and not reliant on an electric hook up.
